Oklahoma City, founded in the Land Run of 1889, is the capitol of the State of Oklahoma. With a population of over one-half million within the city limits and over 1,200,000 in the greater metropolitan area Oklahoma City is the 30th largest city in the United States.
The Oklahoma State Capitol Building is located in State Capitol Park with the southbound lanes of Route-66 on its west side and the northbound lanes on its east side. The Oklahoma State Capitol is the only capitol in the world surrounded by working oil wells. The name Oklahoma is derived from the Choctaw words okla and humma, meaning red people. The state was made famous by Roger’s & Hammerstein’s long running Broadway show Oklahoma!

This is one of the “must sees” of Brugge. Modest white houses watch out over a grassy courtyard and rustling trees, creating a soothing atmosphere for the weary and burnt-out sightseer. It was founded in the mid 13th Century for young women to live lives of service and piety but without the vows of a nun under the guidance of an unmarried noblewoman, the “Grande Demoiselle.” The residences are not open to the public, but the lovely14th Century chapel and a simple museum are. The chapel is small but well appointed with Louis XVI and XVII furnishings. The museum is a typical Beguine’s house authentically preserved and includes a living room, kitchen and bedroom with old furnishings.

Grey squirrels are in abundant supply as can be seen in the second panorama, walking over the bridge leads to the actual well.
The park itself is well maintained and has an excellent children’s play area, a cafe in the centre, and a sensory garden at the west end of the park.

The gallery consists of two mayor sections, each more than 100 meters in length (respectively called Galerie du Roi / Koningsgalerij, meaning King’s Gallery, and Galerie de la Reine / Koninginnegalerij, meaning Queen’s Gallery), and a smaller side gallery (Galerie des Princes / Prinsengalerij, meaning Gallery of the Princes). The main sections (King and Queen’s Gallery) are separated by a colonnade at the point where the Rue des Bouchers / Beenhouwersstraat crosses the gallery complex.

The oldest structure within the police station was built in 1864; it is a three-storey barrack block constructed adjacent to Victoria Prison. A storey was later added to the block in 1905. Other blocks were added between 1910 and 1925. In 1919, Headquarters Block facing Hollywood Road was constructed. Subsequently in 1925, the two-storey Stable Block was constructed at the north-west end of the parade ground and later used as an armoury.

In the 5th and 6th century many Slavonic tribes lived here, and the tribe of Pšovans created its main settlement in Mělník. Saint Ludmila, who married the Bohemian prince Bořivoj, belonged to this tribe. Denar coins of the princesss Emma are the first demonstration of the existence of Mělník. In November 1274 Mělník gained the statute of town from king Přemysl Otakar II and later became a royal town belonging to Bohemians queens. The castle, confiscated by the communists, has now been restored to its traditional owners, the princes of Lobkowicz.
Mělník castle belongs to the most important sights of this town. The castle is built in a Renaissance style. Under the castle are large wine cellars.
The church St.Peter and Paul faces the Mělník castle. The church was rebuilt three times. Behind the chuch there is the building of the old school. There is a restaurant here today with a beautiful view of the river and Hořín park. Near the castle there is the Villa Carola where the town library is located.

In 1915, two miners struck a $10 million gold find near the town of Oatman, Arizon. Within a year, the town’s population grew to more than 3,500.
Both the population and mining booms were short-lived. In 1921, a fire burned down many of the smaller shacks in town, and three years later, the main mining company, United Eastern Mines, shut down operations for good. Oatman survived by catering to travelers on old U.S. Route 66. But in the 1960s, when the route became what is now Interstate 40, Oatman almost died.
Oatman was named in honor of Olive Oatman, who was kidnapped as a young girl by Mojave Indians and later rescued in 1857 near the current site of the town. Oatman was served by a narrow gauge rail line between 1903 and 1905 that ran 17 miles to the Colorado river near Needles, California.
The wild burros that roam Oatman’s streets are descendants of the burros brought to Oatman by the early gold prospectors.

This ensemble of 8 attached yards with flats, shops, a movie theater, restaurants and small industries was erected in 1905. Planned and built as an example of modern urban living it was meant to show an alternative to the by then commonly overpopulated blocks of flats in Berlin. Left in very bad condition after WWII it still survived until the early 90ties, being protected by GDR cultural heritage law already since 1977. The reconstruction (finished in 1997) managed to create a beautiful living and work area again. The Hackesche Höfe are today very popular among tourists and easy to reach by public transport on your way from the Alexanderplatz to the Friedrichstraße.

The new Central Station was one of the most expensive and most complicated building operations in the past years. Not only was it necessary to build partly underwater because of the adjacent river Spree, but all work had to be conducted while the traffic on this main east-west going train line continued. Only when the traverse parts for the middle section of the impressive glas roof were set on place the traffic stopped shortly 2 times. In may 2006 this fascinating station could be opened to the public, right before the start of the FIFA World Championship. Today it is definetly one of the landmarks of Berlin and for many visitors it is automaticly the first impressive sight when they arrive by train, just opposite of the government district with Kanzleramt and Reichstag.

Ah, our poor main train station. Hlavni Nadrazi. Hlavak, for short. Poor Hlavak is a metaphor for this country, if you are a pessimist. This grand hall, the former international terminal. Built with love and riches. Now you come only if you want to buy old clothes by the kilogram. How could this happen? Is there not a better way to use this magnificent place? No, there’s not. This is a train station, where the questionable elements of humanity converge. That seems to be the case for nearly every main train station, anywhere in the world. Frescoes or not, art nouveau or modernist boxy, train stations put our collective shabby face forward.

If you are coming to Prague for the first time, don’t hurry out of the train station. Take a careful look at the broken lightbulbs, the one-time magnificence, the ill-conceived plastic deathstar departtures hall, the strange casinos. Stop by this second hand and browse for that moth-eaten sweater you always wanted. Or simply admire the room and keep your ears open for all the stories and dramas that bustled through these doors over the last century.

The Place to arrive in Bremen. The Station was build 1886-1891. The station sees 100 long-distance and 410 regional trains per day. About 100,000 passengers per day use the station. The station features nine platform tracks, of which seven are in the station hall. In the hall, two tracks serve as through tracks for freight traffic. The station is electrified since 1964 and has been thoroughly modernized during the late 1990s. Both the passenger and parcel subways, which used to be separate, were joined together and the station’s subway now features a rich selection of shops and food halls, like a shopping mall.

This well preserved landmark is known as “The Last of the Great Railway Stations”. The station also serves as a central hub for the new light rail system that connects various parts of the metropolis. One of the great mysteries of the Federal and State transportation policies is the neglected state of the railway system. Nothing would make more sense than to have frequent connections between San Diego, Los Angeles and the Bay area especially considering the miserable alternative of post 9/11 air travel.
